Make publication details accurate.
Bookshops and digital platforms rely on metadata. Good distribution begins with correct formats, identifiers and product descriptions.
Make the book discoverable
Distribution starts with defining the edition: eBook, paperback, hardcover or audio. Each may have different technical requirements, prices and sales channels.
Metadata includes title, subtitle, author, contributors, language, description, subject categories and series information. Missing or inconsistent fields can lead to confusing listings.

Consistent from file to listing.
A reader should see the same title, contributors and edition details on the cover, inside the book and in the store.
Formats and territories
The description should tell readers what the book is about and who it is for. Broad claims such as “unforgettable” or “life-changing” do little to explain the content.
Availability depends on the distribution service, format and territory. A listing in a catalogue does not mean every bookshop will hold stock.
Visibility without false promises
Promotional material works best when it points to a specific edition and a working purchase or information page. Links, covers and descriptions need periodic checks after release.
No distribution provider can promise sales. Discoverability, pricing and advertising should be assessed separately from the technical act of making a book available.
